Karen's Place

This page is about myself and my family. I am married and we have three daughters ages 17, 10, and 2. They are all different in their own way, but I must say I would rather have 10 of my 2 year old than the 2 of the 17 and 10 year olds. No offense girls, but you two have some moments that are not so good. However, you also have your good moments...all in all they are good kids. Our oldest, Danielle, is graduating this year. It's exciting and sad at the same time, she used to be my little girl, and now she has grown into a beautiful young lady. We are very proud of her, and will support any future plans she may have. She is currently looking into going to college to teach music. Danielle is extremely outgoing, to the point where some may call her odd. She is not afraid to talk to people, and will always speak her mind, even if you don't want to hear it. She is a motor-mouth! Danielle has also always been very independent, and used to enjoy being alone listening to music, or reading. Recently, however, she has made a group of friends that are very nice, supportive, and they always stand up for each other. They hang out all the time, and I feel like I see her less and less. We are worried slightly, because she will be going to take her driver's test next month, and then we will see her even less than we do now. Originally, I wanted Danielle to wait until she graduated highschool to get her liscence, but eventually I gave in. I did make her wait almost a year after she turned 16 to get her permit though, so I feel like that may have been enough of a wait. Danielle is always trying to help other people. She goes out of her way for her friends, family, and the church. She participated in the Almost Heaven Habitat For Humanity trip her church sponsored during the summer, and it was a long week that we went through. We missed her very much as she was in West Virginia and she had limited time to use the phone. She is an active part of the youth group at the church, and she is the director of the chime choir. She also sings in the Youth Choir, Adult Choir and Praise Band, and she plays bells. She has an obsession with the actor Orlando Bloom, who I hear too much about, but I can let her dream.

My 10 year-old is named Brooke. She is currently in 5th grade, and will be graduating from Elementary School at the end of this school year. She will be entering Middle School (in our district, Middle School is 6-8th grade, and High School is 9-12th), and it will be a very big step for her. Unlike her older sister, Brooke is quiet, keeps to herself and likes to be with her family. She also has a wonderful group of friends who she chats with animatedly on the phone, or on Instant Messenger for hours at a time. Brooke enjoys trying new things, and likes to hunt and go fishing with her father, shop with her mother, listen to her older sister's music (sometimes without asking...which causes a stir) and tries on her clothes and make-up, plays with her younger sister and watches movies with her, enjoys "rough-housing" with her older sister and pets. Sometimes Brooke and Danielle do not get along. Danielle gets frustrated when Brooke uses her things, but she gets over it quickly after she realizes that Brooke loves her and is looking up to her. They have their moments when they don't get along, like all siblings do, but there are times when they are inseperable, despite their age difference. They tackle and tickle each other, share secrets, and confide in each other. Brooke and Danielle share a love for Harry Potter and Brooke enjoys when Danielle reads to her. Brooke is also a member of girl scouts, and is a very good student at school. She is in the Chime Choir and the Youth Choir at church, and sometimes weasels her way into Youth Group functions. She is athletic, and is interested in trying sports this school year...I think she may have mentioned Basketball. She also shares a love for playing music like Danielle. Brooke started taking Drum lessons in 4th grade, and can sometimes convice her sister to give her a lesson or two on the piano. Brooke has a wonderful sense of humor, and once she starts laughing, it is hard to get her to stop. I specifically remember banning her from soda for awhile because she was so wild in the car one day after a lunch at Burger King. One of her newest loves is the Playstation 2 that my father owns. Once she starts playing Jak and Daxter, she has that TV tied up for hours. She also enjoys the band Good Charlotte and thinks that the twins in the group are cute, even if they have all sorts of tattoos and piercings on their faces.

Allison is my youngest daughter at the age of 2. She is a joy, and can be a handful. I don't think she's ever taken a nap, besides in the car, but she is always happy and sleeps all night long. She is very outgoing, loves everyone, but she has quite a temper, and a set of lungs. She has probably been the easiest baby, though, out of all three. She loves her baby dolls, and her doll houses. She loves our dog Natalie..or Nat-Nat as Ali calls her, our dog Zac, and our new kitten, Kimba who Ali calls "Baby". Allison loves to look at the deer surrounding our area, which her father loves to do, being the hunter that he is. She also loves to watch movies. She insists on standing a foot away from the TV at all times..and you can yell "Down in front" all you want, because she won't move until you say, "Allison please sit". Her favorite movie at this moment is probably Wild America, because of all the animals it has. Or at least, I guess that's why. She is also a fan of "Wee Sing" video tapes that I have had since Danielle was born. Allison loves Danielle and Brooke, and they will play around with each other when they are all together. She is also a smart little cookie. One day Brooke was teasing her and saying "Allison doesn't know anything". Ali was very offended and yelled at Brooke. So, Brooke says, "Then what is 1 + 1 ?" and Allison says "TWO!" with a look of triumph on her face as Brooke's jaw dropped to the floor. Little did Brooke know that anything that contains a number answer, Allison always answers with "two", it was just funny at that time.

Now my husband, his name is Jack He is a great father to the girls, and a great husband to me. He enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. In 2001 he got a deer that made the record books for Pennslyvania. He was pretty excited, but who wouldn't be?!He also likes to work around the house. Outside he has put in a koi pond for me, made me flower beds, and he keeps the yard looking nice. Now, we just need to work on the inside...just kidding. This winter we are hoping to pull up the carpet and get the hardwood floors re-done and then just use area rugs. Jack is very quiet, he keeps to himself, and I think that is where my middle child gets it from .Jack also like to draw. He has many pictures that he needs to finish. I'm always telling him that he should have gone to school for the talent that he has. I could go on and on about him but we don't want to get all mushy. Just know that Jack is my rock and I thank god for us finding each other.

Now Me, I am a stay at home mom. I enjoy feeding and watching the birds, I also like to work outdoors in my flower gardens, however I'm not that great on the indoor plants. They tend to not make out real well. I enjoy my fish that are in my koi pond. One year I lost everyone of them through the winter. The pump got shut off, the pond froze, and it was just a big mess.I also decided in 1999 that I would like to hunt. I took the hunter saftey course, and got my license. Then, bow season came upon us.... I'm in my tree stand (safety harnessed) and here he comes. So I get ready... 6 points boy wouldn't that look nice on the wall next to hubby's?! Well let me tell you, I am right handed but I shoot the bow with my left. I don't know why. So here I go... aim, release arrow, deer jumps and says "what was that?!". I look and the deer is still there. He may have moved about a foot if that. I shot right over him. The only thing we figure is that I shut the wrong eye. So now I'm MAD for missing this deer, and there is no way I'm going to shoot again and do the same thing. I called Jack on the two way and said,"O.K. I'm done". Then he said, "Okay, I'll be there in a bit." During all this, he had Brooke with him, and he said to her, "Either mom hit one, or she missed it".Then, in 2000 I couldn't hunt the whole season due to my pregnancy, and I had planned to go Bear hunting. I didn't want to give it up, so I asked the doctor. He said, "O.K. but no shooting a gun." I was 7 months pregnant and I still went. We didnt even see one, but it was still fun. That was the last year I hunted, and until my youngest gets a little older it will be the last. I also enjoy going out and spending tme with my sisters. I get a lot f free time away with my sister Debbie when we go shopping. As much as I enjoy a lot of things, I love to spend time with my family. They are the world to me and I love them. I know that they are growing up and may soon be leaving me (Danielle), and I wish I could keep them forever but I know that isn't going to happen so we must let them fly. They will always come back.

We also have a house full of pets. We have 2 dogs. Natalie is a mixed breed I saved from the SPCA. We believe she was abused, because she doesn't like men, only my husband and father. Then there is Zac. He is a yellow Lab that we got from a family that decided they didn't want a dog after 7 months. We also have a cat, Kimba. He is all white and is just 9 weeks old. We took him for his shots and found out that he can't hear, but thats okay. We will just have to keep him inside. We also have 2 birds. A parakeet named Sunshine, and a cocktiel named Sprout. Lastly, we have a pond full of fish with no names, except for the two in seperate bowls. They are both betta fish named Freddy and Louie.

I will be adding more.Including some picture
